Dormer's range of versatile thread milling cutters support the production of high quality internal threads in most materials.
Thread Milling is a method of producing a thread with a milling operation via a CNC machine capable of making circular paths (spiral interpolation). Numerous benefits compared to conventional threading include:
• Same tool can be used to produce numerous thread diameters (as long as the pitch is the same)
• Same tool can be used for both left and right hand thread production and G(BSP) can be used to create both internal and external threads
• Smaller chips, promoting problem free threading and reduced down-time
• Tolerance adjustments can be made using exact calculations
• Full thread to the bottom of the hole
• Very secure method of creating threads in difficult to machine materials
It is a relatively slow process offering measurable time savings on larger diameters, but with significantly higher quality of finish and accuracy.
Dormer's thread milling range is identified by the following product code:
• J2** (Thread Milling Cutters)
