Tooling data classifications updated

We have upgraded the way product data and Workpiece Material Groups (WMG) are displayed across our entire assortment of cutting tools.

We are updating how we display our technical parameters by providing a greater level of detail on Workpiece Material Groups (WMG).
Helping customers to find the right tool, this change is based on the commonly used ISO standard. We have taken a step further by including recommended starting values for speed and feed.
For each product, three levels of data are now provided within the new Workpiece Material Group structure: the standard ISO material definitions, based on the six coloured groups, plus additional classifications on material structure, composition, hardness and ultimate tensile strength.
Our new tooling data classifications will be implemented in all product material from November 2019 onwards.
We are also updating tooling data, such as diameters and lengths, according to ISO 13399, for efficient data exchange as we continue to provide best-in-class digital support to our channels.
This ISO 13399 standard features a total of 133 parameters, covering a wide range of cutting tools, helping to support manufacturing planning, machining operations and product supply.

ISO is the International Organization for Standardization and a worldwide federation of national standards bodies.
