Dormer Pramet supports Workshops for Warriors with Precision Twist Drill, Union Butterfield and Dormer tooling.
Workshops for Warriors (WFW) is a San Diego-based non-for-profit organization that provides veterans, wounded warriors and transitioning service members with advanced manufacturing training at no cost.
As a manufacturer focused on developing tomorrow’s metalworkers, Dormer Pramet proudly supports Workshops for Warriors and recently contributed more than twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) worth of Precision Twist Drill, Dormer and Union Butterfield branded tooling for the organization’s training efforts.
As our nation continues to strengthen the technology skillset for manufacturing careers, companies are becoming more focused in their involvement to ensure a skilled manufacturing workforce which is capable to support today’s and tomorrow’s industrial requirements.
“At Dormer Pramet, we realize the positive impact of community and collaboration. Workshops for Warriors is a cause which we believe in and we are honored to be able to support their training efforts,” said Russ Reinhart, Dormer Pramet US National Sales Manager. “We support them so that they can support our heroes.”
Founded in 2008, Workshops for Warriors offers classes in advanced CNC manufacturing, CAD/CAM programming, advanced welding/fabrication, machinery repair, CNC Laser and Waterjet, and most recently Starrett & Snap-On Tools and 3D printing. The non-profit training center currently receives no Federal, State, or local funding and relies on the generosity of corporate and private donations. Training is completely free to the Veterans, Wounded Warriors and Transitioning Service Members attending, and 83% of all donations go straight to training programs.
Hernàn Luis y Prado, Founder of Workshops for Warriors, said: "More than 500 Veterans seek enrollment at Workshops for Warriors every semester, yet we only have enough funding to graduate approximately 120 people per year. We are incredibly grateful for the support of Dormer Pramet because their donation will not only allow our students to learn on the most relevant equipment in the advanced manufacturing industry, but will help our organization use the funds we would have had to use on tooling on student scholarships and program costs. We are incredibly proud to have a company like Dormer Pramet on our side and supporting our Nation’s Veterans alongside WFW.”
